Mission
The mission of the Office of the Student Ombudsman is to mediate between students (undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral) and teaching staff or administrative services of the Institution, to uphold legality in the context of academic freedom, to address maladministration phenomena and to safeguard the proper functioning of the Institution. The purpose of this specialised institution is to prevent conflicts and promote academic dignity and the support of female students throughout their academic life.

Role
1/ It investigates cases, ex officio or following a student’s report, and mediates with the competent bodies of the Institution to resolve them. In order to carry out its task, it may request from the services of the Institution any information, document or other evidence relating to the case, examine persons, carry out an inspection and order an expert opinion. If the ombudsman considers that there are indications of a disciplinary offence, it shall refer the case to the competent disciplinary body.

2/ It provides information to the staff and students of the Institution on the function, responsibilities and mission of the Student Ombudsman.

3/ It plans and coordinates training activities for students and staff of the Institution, in collaboration with other units of the Institution, as well as with external bodies.

4/ It participates in the formulation of internal policies and the development of tools to enhance integrity and transparency and cooperates with the competent bodies of the University.

5/ It informs and cooperates with the governing bodies of the Institution,

6/ It prepares an annual report, which it submits to the Rector, the Board of Administration and the Senate of the University on the work carried out and the progress of the cases handled, as well as proposals for improving the effectiveness of the Institution’s services.

7/ The Student Ombudsman has no jurisdiction in matters of examinations and student grades.

NOTE: For the academic year 2023-2024, University of the Peloponnese has decided to have Prof. Konstantinos Mavreas (Dept. of Business and Organization Administration) as UoP Student Ombudsman
